HAMLET in Yiddish

  • Baker Building Room 620 921 Lexington Avenue New York, NY, 10065 United States (map)

Attend the premiere screening of HAMLET in Yiddish! This original work of Act 3 Scene 1 of Hamlet, in Yiddish (with English captions) is presented by the Yiddish Shakespeare Project, a Theater group created by Muse Scholar, Hunter McIlvain, Muse Scholar alumni Jennie Reich Litzky and alumni, Jake Levy. Please click here for more information about the project.

This version of Hamlet focuses on the use of the Yiddish language as a tool to evade state surveillance, complete with unique and dramatic staging. As you know, Yiddish Theatre has a rich tradition and history, which we believe is important to share with the Hunter arts community.

This event is open to Hunter College students and faculty, and the general public.
