Sankofa is the 3rd annual Black History Month student-led art showcase and the 2nd annual film festival, Black Joy, created by Zara Cimone in collaboration with the Black Student Union. All CUNY students can submit any medium of art including paintings, sculptures, photography, dance, singing/rap, poetry, and more! Black owned vendors are welcome to sell their work as well!
This year, we have featured performances such as a student written short play, Black to the Future, as well as Baruch's step team, the Star Steppers.

Sarah Marcus is the Senior Director of Education and Community Engagement at the New York City Ballet. From 2009 to 2024, she served as the Director of Education and Community Engagement at the Mark Morris Dance Group, where she oversaw the development and expansion of programs that engaged nearly 25,000 participants annually. Throughout her tenure, she played a crucial role in strategic planning and cross-departmental collaboration, ensuring the organization’s mission of providing inclusive and equitable access to arts and culture. Sarah remains dedicated to teaching and continues to contribute to the broader dance community through her involvement with various arts organizations.

Albert Martínez-Fernández is a business strategist specializing in arts and entertainment. As Manager of Strategy and Planning for the Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation, he leads strategic development, innovation, and operational efficiency. He also serves as an Expert-in-Residence for NYU’s MPA and Arts Administration programs. Previously, he built strategic partnerships with Fortune 500 companies at the Metropolitan Opera and held leadership roles in high-growth startups and multinational firms across travel, financial services, and technology sectors. A frequent lecturer at Columbia University, NYU, and Pace University, Albert’s work has been recognized by the Association of Arts Administration Educators and the “La Caixa” Foundation. He is a graduate from NYU, Aarhus Business School, and Pompeu Fabra University.

What is Hunter Underground?
A new student-run interdisciplinary arts showcase, designed to create a venue on campus with ongoing opportunities for students in all arts programs to collaborate and share their work.
We're hosting a mixer where students can meet new collaborators and learn more about the showcase and how to submit.
You’re invited to the 2024 Arts in Education Job Fair presented by the New York City Arts in Education Roundtable, Community-Word Project, and Hunter College’s Career Center, Office of the Arts, and the Arts Management and Leadership Certificate Program.
This event will not be recorded. Available positions will be crowdsourced from hiring organizations and added to the Roundtable’s Jobs Board for future reference.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Setup: Hiring organizations will have separate breakout rooms, and virtual attendees will be able to move freely between them to connect with organizations they are interested in.
Logging in: Attendees scheduled in the 3-4pm and 4-5pm time slots for the in-person fair are asked to keep to those schedules to prevent too many attendees in each room at one time. Attendees scheduled originally for the 5-6pm time slot are encouraged to attend when best suits them.

For its annual spring season, Tom Gold Dance presents revivals of Counterpoint and Rapid Exidation, as well as the World Premiere of Lavender is all the Rage, all from Company founder and director Tom Gold.
